After several celebrated New York classical recitals, Dutch baritone Hans Pieter Herman makes his New York cabaret debut in “The Flying Dutchman – No Wagner Allowed!” with music direction by Brian Holman. “A brilliant mix of irreverent humor, charming self-flagellation and top-shelf singing,” (Musical Connection), Hans and Brian revisit his career highlights (Dutch national tours of Cats, Aldeburgh Festival with Galina Vishnevskaya, flaming horsemen in the deserts of Qatar) weaving through a diverse collection of numbers, from Schubert and Rachmaninov to Noel Coward and David Friedman. Brian also lends his “beautiful voice” (Rosalind Elias) to a heart rendering and side-splitting tribute to Hans’s struggle with hearing loss. Directed by Ira Siff, Lighting by Matt Berman.
After a sold out run in April, this ENCORE presentation is one night only: October 13, 2017, 7:00 pm at Pangea in NYC’s East Village. Visit here for tickets.
