Saturday, February 16, Brian returns to Pangea in New York’s East Village with Liberian-American soprano Dawn Padmore in “Life, Music and Love in NYC… so far,” featuring a special appearance by the Nigerian master talking drummer, Kofo the Wonderman.
Join Dawn and Brian as they take a look at life and love in NYC (so far, at least) with side-trips to Liberia, Nigeria, and a hop over to France and Italy through a variety of music by Liberian composer and performer Hawa Daisy Moore, Nigerian composers Akin Euba and Joshua Uzoigwe, American composers Undine Smith Moore, Chandler Carter and William Bolcom, as well as arias by Giuseppe Verdi. Be prepared to laugh out loud, and perhaps shed a tear or two!
Dawn Padmore has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center, performed as a soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra and Delaware Symphony, and has performed at festivals in the US, Caribbean, West Africa, South Africa, and Europe. She is known as a champion of music by African composers, and she is honored to have sung for Bishop Desmond Tutu, and the inauguration of Republic of Liberia President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.
