Biography
Brian Holman is Music Director of New Rochelle Opera and Associate Conductor of Modus Operandi Orchestra in New York City. Recent engagements include appearances with Opera Orlando, Pacific Opera Project, Inland Northwest Opera, Cleveland Opera Theater, Lighthouse Opera, Marble City Opera, and Red River Lyric Opera. Brian has served as assistant conductor for New York City Opera, Opera Africa, Opera in Williamsburg, Treasure Coast Opera, Montclair State University, Manhattan School of Music, and he has conducted performances with the Orlando Philharmonic, Lebanese Philharmonic, Spokane Symphony, and Tucson Pops. He has also performed at Harare International Festival of the Arts, Mediterranean Opera Festival in Sicily, and Film Fest Tucson. This season, Brian conducts New Rochelle Opera’s 40th anniversary gala, Carmen for Lighthouse Opera, and appears in concert with Julio Mascaro (Palacio Nacional de Guatemala), Amine Hachem (Athens, Detroit), Inna Dukach, Richard Troxell, Hans Pieter Herman, Dawn Padmore and Baye Mahanta Diop (New York). Brian returns to Oracle Piano Society (Arizona) to conduct his original score for the 100th anniversary of the silent film, The Mine with the Iron Door, commissioned by Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation.
Born in Arizona of English and Mexican ancestry, Brian studied piano with Robert Hamilton at Arizona State University and Nina Svetlanova at Manhattan School of Music. Brian has performed with many acclaimed singers, including Nelly Miricioiu, Aprile Millo, Laquita Mitchell, Stella Zambalis, Lauren Flanigan, John Mac Master, Laverne Cox, Francisco Casanova, Noah Stewart, James Valenti, Lester Lynch, Kenneth Overton, Daniel Borowski, Niní Cáffaro, and Kofo the Wonderman. A sought-after opera coach based in New York, he has played for the masterclasses of Mariella Devia, Martina Arroyo, Verónica Villarroel, Giuseppe Filianoti, Marcello Giordani, Salvatore Fisichella, Nicola Martinucci, Neil Shicoff and Ira Siff. Brian’s work has also been featured on international radio, television and digital media (Vogue, Classic FM, Sirius XM, Virgin, WQXR New York, Esimora Cultural RAC Colombia, Vea Canal Guatemala, Alhurra, LBCI, Tele-Occidente Sicilia).
